🪮 you cannot comb a hairy ball flat

It's a real theorem. Any continuous field of hair lying flat against a sphere must have at least one cowlick — a point where a hair sticks straight up or swirls, because it can't decide which way to lie. It's topology, not bad grooming: it follows from the sphere having no "hairless" (zero) point a tangent vector field can avoid.

The torus gets to cheat — a donut can be combed perfectly flat, no cowlick required, since (unlike the sphere) it has a flat tangent field with nowhere to get stuck. Switch surfaces below and go looking for the singularity.

Drag across the fur to comb it — the bend stays put, permanently, so your strokes build up into a real groomed pattern (and reveal the cowlick). Hit shake out to reset the fur, or use the map in the corner to spot where you've combed from above. Drag empty space to look around, WASD to fly, Q/E for up and down, shift to boost.
